Ontario Budget 2014: Pre-Budget Consultations

January 23, 2014

Only three weeks into the new year and already one round of provincial pre-budget consultations is complete.

ISAC presented recommendations for Ontario’s 2014 Budget to the Legislature’s Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs on January 16.

Our recommendations focused on:

  • continuing to make positive reforms to social assistance;
  • investing in positive reforms as a down-payment on Ontario’s next five-year poverty reduction strategy; and
  • making sure investment comes from outside the programs instead of from moving money around within them.

You can download our 8 recommendations for Ontario’s 2014 budget here: Ontario Budget 2014 - Pre Budget Submission

While the Standing Committee’s consultations end today, the Minister of Finance is also hosting pre-budget consultations.

There are many ways to have your voice heard during the Minister’s consultations – check here for details.

And if you agree with the recommendations in our submission, you can always send the Minister a brief email saying so.
