NOTE: All links are now working. Sorry for any confusion.
Our allies at the Fight for $15 and Fairness campaign are calling for support at hearings in Toronto TODAY, July 21, on Bill 148.
And please take five minutes to send a quick letter to the Standing Committee that’s holding the hearings BY 5pm TODAY, using the template they’ve provided below.
Bill 148 will make big changes to the conditions of work for all workers in Ontario. Let the provincial government know that you support a $15 minimum wage and fairness for all Ontario workers.
Take action!

Dear Friends,
We had another well-attended city-wide organizing meeting last night, thanks to everyone who was able to join. The focus was on the ongoing public hearings on Bill 148 – Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act – click here to learn more about the bill and what is at stake.
This Friday: Join us at the Toronto Public Hearing
As you may know, this Friday is the final stop of the 10 day, 10 city public hearing tour and we want to pack the meeting at Queen’s Park in Toronto. If you are available, please join us there and support the individuals who are presenting to the committee on Bill 148.
Where: Queen’s Park, Committee Room 151 (click here for a map)
When: Friday, July 21, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, **if you only have a few hours to spare, try to come when the media will be the most present, which we expect to be in the morning or 1:30 pm onward, following the lunch recess (see here for the full agenda)
Reminders:
– Don’t forget to bring a government issued I.D. with your photo to pass through Queen’s Park security
– Please do NOT wear your Fight for $15 & Fairness t-shirt, or buttons / stickers because carrying political messaging at the Legislative Assembly grounds is not allowed
Take 5 minutes to send a written submission right now: speak up for $15 & Fairness!
With corporate lobby groups pushing back hard on the labour law reforms included in Bill 148, we must speak louder to ensure this bill is strengthened and passed.
Please show your support by sending a written submission to the committee reviewing Bill 148 before the 5:30 pm deadline on Friday, July 21. Click here to download a sample letter which we have drafted for your convenience. You can edit it to best reflect your (or your organization’s) voice. Now is the time to show our support, please urge your networks to do the same before the deadline. It would be a great help to us, if you can copy us (info@15andfairness.org) when you send your letter.
