As of July 2025, Ontario Works (OW) rates remain frozen for the seventh year, with no adjustment for inflation. As household costs continue to rise, this marks yet another year where the real value of income provided to social assistance recipients is effectively reduced.
Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) recipients will see a 2.8% increase in core rates due to inflation-based adjustments starting in July 2025. This is the lowest annual increase since the government began applying inflation-based adjustments in 2022. This increase does not apply to other allowances like the Special Diet Allowance, which has remained stagnant for years while food costs soar. Families with children will see a similar inflation-related increase in their monthly Ontario Child Benefit (OCB) amounts – of around $4 per month per child.
